I woke up this morning to read about the people struggling to get to work in NY this morning, shoveling their cars out of feet of snow, stuck in subway cars, giving up and calling it a snow day.
And I’m jealous — the only snow we’ve had here were a few hours of soft flakes that never stuck.

blizzard envy

Maybe it’s just a “grass is always greener” mentality, but there’s something extremely fun even about all the difficulties of a snowstorm in NY, and the way NYers handle it. I mean sure, it’s all a hassle, but I feel like there’s a certain part of NYers that delight in the challenge, that light up when the going gets tough in some elemental way like this. It’s a city of fighters, anyway, and for once they’re all in it together. I think of a blackout a few years ago, the uncertainty, long walks home, but also the sense of camaraderie.
Ok, rose-colored glasses it is.
